About the area
A quiet corner of southern Kefalonia
Pessada is a small, unhurried village on the southern coast of Kefalonia, the largest of the Ionian Islands. Set between the Ionian Sea and the forested slopes of Mount Ainos, it's one of the calmest pockets of the island — close to everything, but far enough from the busier resorts to keep its village rhythm.
From Villa Aquarius you can walk to a quiet sandy beach in under ten minutes, and reach four or five other beautiful beaches — Lourdas, Trapezaki, Avithos, Megas Lakos — in a short drive. The harbour at Pessada runs a small seasonal ferry across to Zakynthos, perfect for a day trip. Argostoli, the island's capital with its waterfront, shops and restaurants, is about fifteen minutes by car.
The island's most photographed sights are all within easy reach: the white-pebble Myrtos beach, the underground lake at Melissani, the Drogarati caves, and the postcard village of Assos with its Venetian castle. Kefalonia International Airport (EFL) is just 8 km away, so transfers in and out are quick — no long drives at the start or end of your holiday.
